Responding in Crisis

In good times, many families in Guatemala have great needs.  Many have food for 1-2 meals per day and a family meal may consist of a few eggs, rice and tortillas.

Right now, Comitancillo, Guatemala is under quarantine rules with a curfew enforced from 4PM to 4AM each day, and only food-related businesses may operate.  Needy families are the hardest hit.

We have established a relief fund and seeded it with a key donation and with funds from our reserves to specifically address the needs surrounding COVID19.  God has provided us a starting point.

We are seeking partners who are willing to donate in any amount to support this cause.  By our estimates we can feed a family of 4 for roughly $30 per month. This program expands on the child sponsorship program that is a year-round ministry of MHM. Our team is already providing food monthly for more than 100 families and we have a waiting list of pre-qualified families in need. We are temporarily expanding our reach during this crisis. Unlike sponsoring a child, there is no long-term relationship, and we will provide no individual reports connecting donors to specific families, but rest assured that you will be meeting an immediate and serious need.

As with all of our program-specific donations, there is no administrative fee or financial hold-back in the US.  In Guatemala, a portion of your donation will be applied to administrative expenses to qualify families, and for the purchasing, packaging, and distribution of bulk food.

The situation is changing daily, so we ask that you donate with the understanding that we may redirect your donation toward other COVID-related needs in the community.  This gives us the flexibility to respond with maximum impact.  And as always we will be sharing this aid and these blessings in the name of Jesus Christ!
